'95 LT1 Auto Jumped in to take a spin a all I got was a couple clicks and then nothing. Went on a 900 mile trip last weekend with no problems. Put it on the charger and it went up to about 9, so it was pretty low. Went ahead and jumped it and it started right up. Volt meter showed 14.3@50 mph. Unsure how old the battery is, but it doesn't 'look' in bad shape. Should/would any codes come up?(they didn't) If the alt was bad, would that trigger a code? My gauge has never been in either shaded areas, but runs on the high side of if the third hash mark(13.5?) Baterry or worse? Any ideas would be appreciated
I suspect the battery. It doesn't matter how old it is , they can fail at any age. Even if it is a maintenance free, it could be low on water. If your battery has removeable tops ,try taking them off (carefully) and checking electrolyte level. If it's low, add water (distilled) and charge . Better still, get a new battery if you can't find the cause of the failure. It will happen again.
I was hoping that was all it was since it came out of nowhere. It is sealed and a new one would give me that 'warm-fuzzy feeling' anyway. Thanks for the reply
