Default Idle Problem ( won't hold idle setting)

1990 Vette 6 speed, won't hold idle setting. My Chevrolet mechanic sets the idle and then lets the car sit for 20 minutes and then starts and the idle air valve setting has changed. The car dies and is hard to start, then it sets and I can then drive it. Park the car for 20 minutes start it up and everything is fine, next time the problem shows up again. We have installed a new idle air control valve, TPS, oxygen sensor, adjustable fuel regulator, fuel pump and screen. We also installed a new EMC and chip to see if that would help, it didn't. He thinks maybe the Throttle Body spring is worn and when the engine is shut off the throttle angle does not always set to 0. the only thing we haven't installed is a new MAP sensor. Anybody have any ideas?

I had a similar problem and it ended up being the weatherpack electrical connector to the IAC. I bought a new pigtail and replace the connector. Reset the IDLE and it has been rock solid ever since

I had a problem with idle as well. I found that the throttle plate shaft was worn in the throttle body housing causing an air leak. This also caused an off-idle hesitation because the throttle plates were binding because of the work shaft/housing.

I gave me a good excuse to order a 52mm throttle body anyway.

 Thanks for the input, if I need a new throttle body which 52mm did you buy? I've looked at the BBK on line
