Looks like the mightly 396 will need a new radiator as the temps are a bit on the high side. I'm planning on purchasing the DeWitts C4 radiator (part number A84A) and just looking to get some opinions (good or bad) on the product. I know ld85 has this radiator and loves it. Anyone else running this unit?
I was going to get a Ron Davis, but they are 7-10 days away from shipping the unit, and that's not going to jive with getting the car back from MORE before it starts snowing here in the Cleveland area. The DeWitts unit is in stock and can be shipped ASAP to MORE.
As you mentioned I love it, great quality, very easy install and just a very good company to deal with!
Tom was very helpful when I called this morning. Didn't catch him when I called this afternoon, so I'll be ordering tomorrow morning.
Any before/after temp changes? Mike Osucha from MORE was indicating that my car gets to approx 210 after idling for an extended time and into the 190s while traveling on the street. We're hoping to lower those temps with the new rad.
Re: DeWitts C4 Radiator - Need Opinions (RonRed89)
dont know about the c4 ones, but i put a griffin from tom dewit in my c3 and dropped the temp 30*. very good product. my c4 will be getting one before next summer. tom is a good guy to deal with too, plus i think hes a forum sponser
My temps never go over 190, but I have a 160 stat and turn my fan on at 188!
We're looking for similar temprature results. Mike is handling the chip duties, so not sure exactly what he's going to do with fan temps. I also have a 160 stat.

The one I quoted above was not the Griffin, but one designed by Tom for the C4. He offers both, but the Griffin wasn't in stock. I'm going to go with ld85 on this one (given his good words about the install and experience with DeWitts) and get the DeWitts C4.
It's only more of a bonus that he's a forum supporter and will see some good benefits from positive forum feedback like you and ld have given.

I was one of the first few to get the C4 Dewitts. Quality construction and simple install. Had it on my MORE top end L98. Temps before would get to 220*. After install plus water pump and chip, NEVER got above 175* :D
