where are my grounds located at? and what do I look for to see if they're shot? and... once I find out that they're shot (probably are, had a bad one 8 months ago and had a shop fix it), how do I fix it?

Most engine grounds on the block above the oil filter. Others scattered around the car. Get a shop manual, they show the grounds. Find a broken one, install a new end and bolt it down. Good hunting.. :chevy

I know there's one on the back of the driver's side head near the master cylinder. I can't remember where the battery negative goes on the block. You're going to need a helms manual if your getting into it that deep. I think their website is helms.com. I'm sure there are several. I have my engine out right now, but I can't remember where all of them are.

The most detailed info on your car grounds is in the GM electrical diagnosis service manual supplement. There are a bunch of them and this manual shows the schematic diagram of them and an explanation of their locations.
