My winter project is an engine rebuild for my '84. I figured I might as well stroker it while I was at it (I know, I know, why bother with an '84...I love my car, what can I say). My question relates to injection and/or chip mods that might be required for the resulting 383. Besides the 4.030 overbore, the increased stroke and 9.8:1 compression ratio, I am also installing a 222/231@.050 & .468/.480 cam.
Re: Injection and ECM for Strokerized '84 (vancekirklin)
I have no idea but since nobody else seems to be jumping in I guess I've got company. I would most definately call http://www.tpis.com and talk to them about it. They should know the answers to your questions.
Re: Injection and ECM for Strokerized '84 (Bob86ZZ4)
T.P.I.S stands for, "Tune Port Injection Specialists" When *I* called them, about 10 years ago, they didn't want to even talk to a Crossfire guy.
That manifold won't feed the 350 cubic inches it's mounted on. It's gonna be in BIG trouble on a 383. Depending on the kind of performance you're looking for, the manifold can be ported and the TBs can be bored. There is ONE alternative intake manifold made up from a 4 bbl manifold that may be an improvement of a ported stocker. After that you're in to conversions. My guess is that the ECM will handle the cubes, but that cam is likely too much for it. Good luck, and...

I am about to do the same thing. I am using an X-Ram manifold http://www.x-ram.com and have just fitted a '7747 ecm in place of the old '6026. The 350 is still in the car and is now running better with the 7747 already!
The 7747 is fully hacked and hence programmable. It is possible to burn proms for the stock 6026, but only the locations of the main spark table, main VE table and TCC lockup are known, not really enough to do a proper job.
Come over the the Crossfire Vault and all your questions will be answered http://www.crossfire.homeip.net:81/cftest/default.asp
Thanks for the great advice (all of you guys). I will be ordering the x-Ram later this week and looking into the ECM mods. Is there info on the ECM on the Crossfire site?
I have all winter to finish this. The 'vette is pretty much put away already (it's snowing here right now) so there is no rush on getting it done. As my wife put it, "as long as it keeps you out of trouble, it's worth it."

I wouldnt put an x-ram on it! :nonod: I had one of those & my car was still slow! If you are stuck on fuel injection you need a super ram! If you are not concerned with emissions you could always put a carb on it! That is what I did & I love it! Good luck!
Re: Injection and ECM for Strokerized '84 (vancekirklin)
Yep the Crossfire vault is full of info on the ecm mods and 7747 swap.
If you are handy with a computer, OR DON'T MIND LEARNING A NEW SKILL, you will be able to make it run, idle and be more efficient with fuel injection.
You will also read about many others opinions on the X-Ram manifold.

well I have just done the same thing an built a off the walls 383 . here's the deal .first think about what you want it to do. get an idea for the tor. an hp you would like.a lot of things you can do as far as the fuel system in the 350 hp to 400 hp range. over that an i feel you will need to chance the fuel set up all together however there are others that say you can make it work over that. i also see in the post of what the lower end is selling for on e-bay. look at same of the builders out there selling 383 ,R J Powers is one an built mine top of the line workmanship, you may save yourself money by buying one for the built units out there an having that put in or put in yourself. just make sure it is internal bal. . let me know your thoughts an will help you all i can. Just be careful I built the motor an trans but did nothing to the rear an tore it up other guy here said the dana 44 is what i need will be looking for one . keep in mind that the cam ,heads, intake ,an bottom end needs to work together , to much here to little there will rob you of power,GOOD LUCK with your build up
