This is on an '85 Vette... it intermittently through a Code 52 which is a Calpak Error code. So, I replaced the ECM and reused the prom. All voltages are within spec on the pinouts of the ECM.
The car still runs like junk and the check engine light is STILL ON ALL THE TIME. It's not feeding back any codes to the scanner... and the scanner is good. The car was Codeless till the 52 showed up.
I'm wondering if it's the Prom itself? Does the prom determine what data is transmitted to the serial data bus?
Let's hope it's something else, but I had a similar situation and finally tracked it to a bad CCM box. Yep- I had to replace the whole computer box. Everything was fine after that.
The ECM was replaced.. I'm curious if the prom is responsible for throwing out the error codes because that was the only thing not replaced.
just because you replaced, doens't mean you got a working ecm. i've heard from many people that they've had to replace it 2 or 3 times before they got one that worked. it's probably a refurbished ecm right? i would find someone near you with a similar car and try swapping them. if it is just the prom, i have an 86 manual with iron heads stock prom if you want to buy one (should work on an 85, but not positive).
