Default vlotage passes through tach!

its a 94 6spd with 68k.. when the car heats the tach will reflect the change in voltage of various functions.

all symptoms occur at idle only

blinker......tach will bounce in rythm with the flasher, jumping about 1500 rmp at a time, idle is uneffected and the car runs fine

brake lights.......when brake is pushed the tach will increase about 1000 rpm on tach an hold until brake is released, idle uneffected

windows act the same way if window is all the way up and you hold the switch up the tach will act the same as brake light symptom

all happens only when the car is hot, and while it is heating up the tach acts worse.

please help..very frustrating.

That is pretty strange! The tach responds to pulses sent to it from the distributor so the first thing I would check with an oscilloscope is the pulse string from the distributor to see if it changes frequency with the brake on. If not, then something funny is going on in the cluster and that would be a job for one of the cluster repair centers.

sounds to me like you have a bad/intermittent ground connection somewhere... the tach is finding a ground path through the bulb(s)/window motor etc...
