Default Explain to me....

Can someone please explain to me why the two rear coolant passages in the intake manifold are closed off by the gasket? Wouldn't the top end stay cooler if coolant was allowed to pass through the rear of the intake?

thanks

I believe that coolant is directed in a specific pattern through the heads for optimum effects.

I've read that those two gasket holes are there only to relieve excess pressure as is the small hose comming from the rear of the intake base.

When I had my heads off I was wondering the same thing. So I popped those plugs out of the manifold gasket. My engine runs really cool now and I've had no problems. But maybe it would be that way anyway if I hadn't taken those plugs out. I don't know. But it didn't seem to hurt anything.
