Does anyone know of a source for a replacement for the clamp that joins the EGR pipe tp the exhaust manifold. I sorta buggered up mine when I pulled the passenger side valve cover. Also , is there a bolt on vs crimp on clamp?
Replaced my drivers side Valvue cover, but looking at the pass side and the EGR pipe assy, think its going to be a bugger.. Can you tell me how you went about it, and if there was anything i need to know before starting that side...
The EGR pipe has a silver insulation that you will need to remove. The you will see a joint down next to the exhaust manifold with a clamp on it. You will have to spread the clamp at the crimp to be avle to separate the EGR tube from the manifold. Iused a small blade screwdriver to wedge into the crimp to force it open. You should then be able to lift the pipe up and out of the way as it is very flexible.
When you re-attach the EGR pipe to the manifold , you will need to re- crimp the clamp. Some say you need a special crimp tool from Graingers and others say you can recrimp with side cutters; 1. If you have a strong grip and 2. you don't cut it through. I understand that a replacement can be had for the clamp at you friendly neighborhood Chevy dealer or some have suggested NAPA. Good Luck
