Default Code 43 won't go away

Ok I'm back and 3000.00 dollars later. I just sent my 85 in and had the motor rebuilt. When it went in it had a code 43 on it and I had the new spark control and knock senser for them to add to it when they were rebuilding it. Now they have finished they said they can't keep the code 43 off it just keeps coming back up even though everything is new. Any ideas??????

Is your code 43 (knock sensor): my 87 manual says Possible Failures Associated with code 43 is: 'Check ECM Wiring' - Replace knock sensor, don't know for sure, but (1) maybe sensor replaced is bad or (2) you have a short or open in your wiring to the ECM for that sensor... Don't know if this helps...

I'll check the wiring and see if I can find any shorts in it. The knock senser is new. Thanks Vinnie it's a start.

Dave: don't take for granted that since the knock sensor is new its Good, may still also be a defect..

In addition to the above good advice for checking all wiring for shorts or opens, also check that the ESC ground wire has a good connection at the grounding point. There is a possibility of a bad ECM.
