I have a 95 coupe 6 speed and on my average miles per gallon I used to get about 19.3 MPG, recently I have noticed that I am only getting 18.0 mpg. The only thing that changed is that the car has just gone over 50,000 miles :nonod: I have always felt that after 50,000 all the problems roll in. I think the problem is the car needs a good tune up. I was just wondering if maybe I'm not the only one with this problem. I have also run the car out of gas ( due to trusting the range thing on my dash) it said I had 38 miles till empty which would have definately got me to a gas station, but left me stranded on the side of the road. I s that supposed to be that far off? or is something wrong with my car, it appears like it is running good. Thanks for you time. CMR
When I keep my foot out of the injectors, I'm still amazed at the mileage these stock plastic go carts get. On a trip @ 60 -70mph she gets around 25-30 mpg. I'm at 50K myself, but I did the big tune up last spring, (opti, wires, plugs, coil, coil driver, fuel filter).
96 LT1 auto with 62K, 35psi tire pressure, new plugs and wires (new opti, too) and not too light on the accelerator: 18mpg with 65/35 city/highway mix, 25mpg strictly highway...
89 six spd. Getting 21-22 daily driving. Took a short trip of about 300 miles freeway and got it up to about 24.5.
I learned one thing today. I was running errands and the gauge was still lit up about one bar. The car bucked a few times as though it was running out of gas. I was sitting at a light to make a u-turn into a station. I was really praying to get out of the intersection. I made it. The car will never see less than 1/4 tank again.
I don't think my pride could have handled pushing my vette out of an intersection!
Live and learn! :steering:
