Replacing FX3 shocks
They say that left front and right rear out of range. I peeked under actuator on left front and noticed metal gear was broken and I assume the counterpart in actuator is gone too.
I suspect it is similar situation in the back too.
Does anybody have extra actuators for sale so I can get full set for rebuilding the shocks?
Or should I pull the plug from this system, which appears to be a bit fragile by design and get set of non adjustable Bilstein shocks?
Which finally brings me into point:
How different are the shocks between Z51 and FX3 ? Are they bolt in physically? Do they match with spring rates and sway bars or are they too firm for rest of the equation. I have Adjustable Performance Suspension Package (Z07).
Or would it be better to buy standard Bilstein shocks instead of Z51?
Thank you in advance

I agree. Fix the FX3. When I got my car I had a similar problem.
The system is not fragile!
I think the reason the gears break are because the bushings on the shocks wear out and the shock then sits to high in the actuator. This condition will also throw a code!
What I did for my front shocks was take a washer-file to fit and installed between the bushing (to lower the shock) of course you can get new bushings.
This did work and has not thrown a code in over 1 year! Plus please note that I also Road Race this car about 4 times a year! I am going to Lime Rock this Sat. 11/08/2003.
Good Luck
Steven
