Default EGR Tube Clamp

Does anyone know of a better design / aftermarket EGR tube clamp other than the stock "crimp" style clamp? I regularly remove the valve covers on my '86 which requires the removal of the EGR tube. Gettting the clamp on and off is a real pain. Any advise?

What I've done is use a hose clamp with a little muffler cement. You have to get the clamp on in such a way that you can get a 5/16 wrench or socket on it but it works for me. Just don't overtighten.

Theres a better way,If you want to spend the money, get a 89-91 exhaust manifold(USed manifolds go for 50-150 bucks) for that side and it has a higher posited EGR feed pipe coming off it,then it connects the egr feed tube with 2 bolts on it.So youd have to get an exhaust manifold,a later model EGR tube,2 gaskets, and 2 bolts and it would be far easier to remove this style egr.I HATE my 86 clamp style and this is the worst design ever.

(Btw,I have a 1990 manifold Im going to use,it has the taller EGR feed pipe with 2 bolt attachement...got the parts used)

I have the same concern. I thought I might try modifying the existing clamp by removing (grinding off) the crimped part of the clamp and put it on the joint and secure it by putting a SS worm drive clamp over the original. What you you think?

Maybe worth a try... I bought several stock clamps so I could experiment. I'll try it.

Please let me know how it works. I'm about ready to put mine back together and I can't get a replacement clamp easily around here. Dealer has to order . Thanks

By the way, I bought mine through Eckler's, P/N 27006 for $4.99 each.
