Default Those with Maganflow...

Ive got Magnaflow and think they sound the best. Moreover, it was my perception that they have the best performance. No proof of that, but hey it makes me feel better.

However, I have one gripe. The resonance doesnt bother me very much. Just sometimes in traffic on the freeway. But its there. And it seems to get worse when I have a passenger. Although, I think thats just my imagination due the fact that I become more aware of the resonance when there is a passenger.

My question is, do you other Magnaflow guys have resonance? Because, I kind of get the feeling that a lot of you dont. And for those of you that dont, can you let me know exactly what you have? and had done?

McShagger, I too absolutely love my Magnaflow system  The quality, fitment, and finish is top-notch. The sound is manly & aggessive, but not obnoxious and annoying. A first class system, IMO. I don't know how it actually compares in the performance arena, I suspect most decen open-flowing aftermarket systems are fairly similar.

As for resonance, this seems to be common among those who have auto trannies, with 2.59 or even 3.07 gears

I have a ZF-6 with 3.33 gears. I have almost zero resonance at any time inside the cabin. They sure sound great out the rear-end though

You know, I don't actually have anything to compare to, as I don't let anyone drive my car and therefore, I don't know what it sounds like outside. But, I do know that when I had the Magna Flows put on, I didn't like the "lack" of sound, and had the resonators taken off. It's still not that loud and am thinking of some sort of remote "cut-out" before the mufflers to create the "open pipe" sound.
As for performance, there's a corner that I always got a certain amount of sideway on, and afterwards, went a bit far! Ouch! Do like the 'Flows.

I got Magnaflows on my -88 vette and they are superb! I have removed my pre-cats also and the sound is a killer. Only a little bit of resonance in 35-40mph range but doesn't bother me at all. Magnflows scream at WOT and nice big block sound at slow cruise.

I have them too and couldn't be happier. I have also removed the factory resonator and replaced with straight tubing. The only resonance I have experienced is at about 65-70 in 6th going up long hills on the free way.

No reasonance with my Magnaflows. Also have shorty headers, x-pipe, and custum dual stainless tips with sound baffles. (I also get lots of compliments as rear of exhasut is so visible on our C4's, and all that stainless just glistens!)

Magnaflows replaced muff elims as she was too loud at interstate speeds.

Suggest you look at x-pipe, mine eliminated my reasonance issues. :seeya

****new to Vettes****
Are we talking about a full system or just the Wide Open Mufflers (like CorvetteCentral catalog 4c p.A8 for $399.00? I've got a 92 LT-1 Auto and these tips would sure look good. Any hp increase or resonance issues on a 92? I understand resonance was an issue on earlier models and solved with a rear pipe w/crossover tube...advice please? Thanks in advance, :smash:

I don't have them on a vette yet but I have put them on a couple of other cars and think they are great. They are fairly quite when crusing but really roar when stepped on! My son 73 challenger picked up over .200 when we installed them in place of "turbo" mufflers which would blow out after about 2 meets (car runs street legal). The construction and quality if excellent and I will use them on future vette projects.
