I had to replace the pump in my tranny, and found that the torque converter also had to be replaced(small groove worn into shaft from pump bushing). After a bunch of research, found that the stock t.c. locked at 1397 rpms. I ordered one that locks at around 1670. Will this cause me any problems? I thought I'd be pretty safe with such a minor difference.
The guy that's replacing the pump recommended I also replace the flexplate. He said that it probably has a hairline crack that caused the t.c. and pump to go bad. Anyone ever heard of this before? I couldn't find a crack. I ordered a 153 tooth flexplate. Anybody know for sure that 153 is correct stock for a 92?
I am sure that the brains of will chime out in time, but In my humble opion you should replace your flexplate (if you have a lot of miles on you car) while it is easy to get to (ie.. while it is apart) as for the teeth my 91 auto She got 158 teeth what a smile.

Has anyone ever put the rear main seal in. It looks like it would be a good time to do that as well. It seems like it would be easy, but I hate to assume that. Can you just push it in without taking anything else apart? I think this would be a one peice seal. Could someone with a 92 send me scan of the service manual section for this? shribe33@msn.com
