How many people here are running them on a late model C4? How much better does it make handling? what brand did you choose? and the thing im most curious about is how do you change ride height with them? is it hard? how much of a difference can you have? can you do coilovers with selective ride suspension like i have in my LT4?

Re: Coilovers (1996man)
How many people here are running them on a late model C4?
Not that many. Id say there are at least a dozen that I know of on the forum.
How much better does it make handling?
Night and day difference
What brand did you choose?
They are roughly all the same. DRM, EM, Guldstrand, Callaway
the thing im most curious about is how do you change ride height with them? is it hard?
You have a wrench and you screw/unscrew the mounting point. Either raising or lowering the spring compression, you will need an aligment for each change.
how much of a difference can you have?
In what?
can you do coilovers with selective ride suspension like i have in my LT4?
wow thanks for the info! im sorry i meant to say earlier: what is the height difference you can adjust your car with coilovers? 2-3 inches in ride height? i didnt realize you had to align if you changed it that much. any other input from people who are running them in C4s? How do you like them? I like the DRM company im considering something from them. what do these systems usually cost? do they include the actual shock? or everything but? i would think i need a special shock since i have the selective ride
I've had QA1's all the way around on mine, I ordered 2 inch shorter shocks 4885's I'm running 350# springs in the front and #300's in the rear... I purchased everything from summit and I think it was about 1200 dollars
I agree with the post above, I have run mine over 7000 miles including some cross country summer drives, I'm about 2 inches lower than stock, ( 25 3/4 ground to the center of the rear wheel well.) You can go lower but I'm limited by speed bumps in my housing area. At the same time I went to ZR1 rims and tires all the way around... THe car handles very well and to me stays very flat . The QA'1s with the coilovers weighed less than the composite spring with the stock bilstien shocks. They also have 12 ride settings with the twist of a ****, and no jacking up of the car... the springs adjust with a spanner wrench.
I had to do a few modifications to the swaybar in front and the rear shock top mounting brackets.
Once I settled on the ride height I did have the car aligned, the school is out on daily driving, and will they handle the abuse and so forth... thus far I have hit some very nasty roads i have had no problems whatsoever. I installed and did the modifications myself.
i'm extremely happy with my setup...
Take a look at my website, if you have any questions i'll be happy to answer the best I can...
Wow! this is all great info! Is anybody here running coilovers with a selective ride system? i am curious if you can feel a little bit more of a change wen you turn the dial since it isnt extremely apperant with a stock system

You're going to run into a problem with the 96 system. Typically people will opt to have their shocks revalved to take advantage of the coilovers. The 96 shocks are not able to be revalved by bilstein.
I have the DRM coilovers with FX3 system on my 92 ZR1. I also have a 91 convertible with the standard FX3 system. The adjustment between firmest and softest is noticeable on the 91 car; it is really not detectable on the 92 car, and that is with some softer than normal springs on the DRM setup.
The ZR1 (on 18 inch wheels) handles vastly better than the 91 (on 17 inch wheels). The ZR1 is a stiffer ride, though.
My ZR1 has been lowered a bit, too. It is 27.25 inches from ground to the middle of the rear wheel wells. The fronts are 26.5 inches from ground to the front wheel wells. I don't think I could go much lower as the center exhaust parts will just scrape on higher than normal parking lot bumps.
