powder coating?

I'm planning to have my stock valve covers powder coated. Should I pay the extra to have them clear coated or is the clear coat even needed?

I don't think its needed. I had mine done by HPC and am very pleased by the results.

What color are you doing ?

It depends on the finish. If it is a aluminum based PC, it will need to be cleared. Otherwise. It's good to go.

Will powder coating a polished item give it a mirrored color look?

What you will see is a chrome layer and then a color baked on top of it. It will give it the color chromed look.

It's a chrome base with purple on top. The intake is one I had done for PurpleC4. His brakes are done in the same color.

JJ 86, I'd look into the potential problems powdercoating these stock valve covers........here's a thread from when I checked into it earlier this year It's interesting what the guy told me about the magnesium. And, here's a couple pics on how they turned out with a nice paint finish baked on. Either way you go, good luck:
