Does yours make any extra noise?

I just installed one on the original engine in the garage. I am hoping it is not a noisey thing. Any Idea which position the arrow and dot are supposed to be pointing? I pointed both up in line with each other. I think I read that somewhere, long timeago. number one piston was all the way up too (TDC).
