Default Shift Kit vs Computor Program for firm shifts

What is the difference between a shift kit and a computor program like Hypertech that gives you firmer shift points? Can either one cause damage to a standard auto transmission?

Hyper chips and the like have an effect on shift points and converter lock up whereas shift kits literally change the oil pressures inside the transmission as well as having an effect on the shift points by the change in pressure. This is acheived by the removal or resizing of "check *****" within the oil galleys and replacment of the springs on the valves inside the valve body wich results in the desired effect. While hard shifting from a shift kit would seem to be harder on a transmission, the reality is that the harder shifts result in less slippage within the clutch packs internally and actually offer less wear. Now.. keep in mind an eprom swap is a 5 min job, a shift kit on the other hand is a nice afternoon on your back. :smash:
