Hey guys, i was looking through my Summit catalog the other day and noticed a large redline ad that said they took a stock 93 cobra and it ran something like a 14.2 in the quarter... the point is they replaced the tranny fluid, rear end fluid, motor oil with redline products and added watter wetter and the car lost 1.85 seconds in the quarter! sounds almost to good to be true! Now, while i am not in the mood to spend nearly 7 dollars a quart on motor oil regularly, i wouldnt mind putting it in my motor one time with all the rest of the stuff mentioned.( i need to do most of this stuff anyway as regular maintenence) Just curious what you all thought about this. Is this all horse poopie? Also i had a friend who said he saw a simalar test on tv only it was a monte carlo when they ised the redline products and it lost time in the quarter as well! I know they are a good company and plan on buying products from them in the future, just curious what everybody thinks about that ad
Yeah I believe .185 seconds, escpecially if the 93 had thick, dirty fluids in it to begin with, then changing to red line would improve, just as changing to new stock fluid would probably gain results over dirty old fluid as well. The thickness of motor oil, 30w verse 15w 50 or something really makes a difference because the fluid is thinner.
I've used the water wetter product. Works well at keeping the temp of the engine down a little lower. On the bad side, it always finds the next weak hose that hadn't been replaced. I have yet to have the stuff in for more than a month and not lose a hose. Luckily, I have only lost 1 optispark from this. :jester Upper hose blew and soaked it with 2 gallons of boiling coolant. Other than that, it is great stuff. :D
