Default new engine

I just bought an 87 convt. I drove it down from Detroit to FL. In Canton, NC the engine went.
I had two rod bearings and the crank shot. The Canton Anderson Chevy dealer put in a short block. They swear it is a L98. I find that hard to believe. Assuming it is that 544 (or whatever) replacement, will my comp ratio anf HP be stock?
You can't believe what chevy charges for... oh, you probably CAN.
Ow well, 3yr warranty.
Thanks

Why do you find that hard to believe? I bought an L98 replacement block for my car. Everything will be as before in terms of CR and HP.

Good luck, sounds like your off to a bad start.

Tom sorry to hear about your misfortune that really sucks. At least now you have a new engine. Not a good way to find out you needed one though.

Good luck

Okay, I guess they weren't lying. I don't kinow about a bad start. I bought the car from my brother-in -law for about 5K. It is in pretty nice shape. Even with the engine job I'm only in for under 10K... And the short block is new and the heads re-done. 3 yr warranty... Anyway, I'm pretty sure the drive from Detroit to Boca Raton, FL was worth close to $10k. :) I think it may be love. (Don't tell my wife.)
