Default Hookers in your Car?

Now, really.... Can anyone comment re. the quality of the Hooker-supplued ceramic coating on their headers? The local retailer says they'reot so good. Thanks, Jack

I wouldn't go with the hooker coating.I don't think they treat the inside.I got a written quote from Jet Hot for Hooker long tubes (2151), ceramic coating inside and out, with 2 bungs welded in for the 02 sensors. $632........I think that is reasonable considering the 02 sensors and life time no rust warranty. :chevy

:iagree: i have the 2149's just installed. it scratches and chips easy. if i had to do it again i would have sent the coating to be done else where.
don't get me wrong i love the headers. they are great.

I, too, have Hookers bought from Jet-Hot, but mine are shorties with their Sterling coating which really looks nice. The price was well below Eckler's Shorties with coating. After 5k, they still look new.

:iagree: I ALSO GOT THE 2151-1. HAD THEM FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS AND 15,000 MILES. STILL LOOK GOOD. I HAD TO DRILL A HOLE AND INSTALL AN 02 SENSOR BUNG. INTALLATIONS WAS NOT HARD. ANYONE USED HOOKER'S 16720 Y PIPE FOR USE ON THE 2151 AND 2149. I BOUGH IT ALONG WITH MY HEADERS AND WAS PI$%@D! :mad
IT DID NOT CLEAR THE TRANSMISSION PAN, THUS NOT ALLOWING ME TO LEVEL IT WITH THE COLLECTORS FOR A PROPER SEAL. HAD TO CUT, WELD, AND FABRICATE A NEW SECTION OF IT TO MAKE IT CLEAR THE TRANS PAN.
PAIN IN THE A_ _I DID NOT HAVE THE TIME TO RETURN IT. ANY OF YOU GUYS HAD THE SAME PROBLE WITH THIS Y PIPE OUT THERE? :mad

Finish on my 2149's would scratch rather easier, and also started cracking off somewhat when the header bolts were tightened down. 16720 Y-pipe was awful for me also, I have a previous post somewhere here about it. I wish I never would have bought the things in the first place. Other people like them however.

I too have the 2149's. I have no problem with the coating.

YEAH, I LIKE THE 16720 Y PIPE. I JUST DID NOT LIKE WHAT I HAD TO DO TO IT TO MAKE IT FIT RIGHT.
