Default Does that resistor thingy work?

I saw the resisitor you plug in to you IAT sensor on ebay. It say's it fools your computer into thinking the air charge is much cooler and in turn gives you 10-20 hp increase. I know this is mis-leading but is there any truth in the performance?? Is this better than the IAT relocation kit? Same thing?

That'd likely just make your 'vette run richer and throw a code.

IF you're vette was way outta tune and happened to be running REALLY lean and pulling timing due to knock... then perhaps this could give you 10-20 hp.

But for the rest of us in the real world, it's pure :bs

And.. if this is the auction I think it is, check the guy's feedback, it speaks for itself.

Ben Watson's How to Tune Chevy Fuel Injection describes a similar trick. You take a 640 Ohm resistor (50 cents or so at Radio Shack) and place it across the terminals of the coolant temp sensor. That keeps the signal at about 145 to 150 degrees and the ECM pumps in more fuel and advance. Of course you lose your fan control, so it's not something you want to do without further modification. Doing it with IAT sounds a little funky and gaining 10 to 20 hp with either sounds like a little CA dreamin'.
