There are (2), I think. One in the back of the block behind the distributor and it has an oil temp. sender near it, and there is another in the left rear of the block. One tells the computer pressure and one tells the gauges. Neither measure flow and both monitor the complete oil galley pressure... Hope this helps...
BINGO !!! Right on, JAKE. Also in early 1984, there was only one "device" near the distributor. It had a 3 bladed connector and served the purpose of both the pressure sender, and the pressure switch for fuel pump . Late '84 and up, the oil pressure sender only has a two bladed connector, plus the switch. None of the devices, "sense flow". Only the pressure sending unit measures or senses the variable pressures. The switch only opens and closes at a predetermined pressure. The temp sensor only measures the the temperature. Good luck, and...
