I see this sometimes come up in discussions. Can someone explain to what this is and is it something us LT1 guys should upgrade to. Thanks in advance. :smash:
GM uses this knock module in the lt-4' s because it is less sensitive to engine nooises. the reason they did this is because when they put the roller rockers into the lt-4 the ecu would sense false knock due too the nooise of he roller rockers. alot of the f-body guys do this when they install headers or roller rockers because the lt-1 knock module will pick up false knock and retard the timing. with the mods that you have listed in your sig i think that youu will be fine with the stock lt-1 knock module.
I tried the LT4 knock module in my ECM and it didn't make any difference, and actually the car seemed to run better when I removed and put the LT1 module back in.
Unless your LT1 is a 96 with ODB-II, it won't communicate properly with the ECM. The LT4 module (GM #16214581 & AC Delco #216-67) will only communicate properly with a 1996 ODB-II computer. :flag
The LT4 knock module seems to be working in my '94 LT1. :skep:
On the dyno my car was seeing knock at~4000 rpm's no matter how much timing was taken out it would still see knock. Put in the lt4 module and mysterious knock went away. The lt4 module works fine with my 94 ecm
NavyVet, the LT4 knock sensors will only work on OBDII cars, but the LT4 knock module will work on both OBD1 and OBDII cars. Maybe this is where you are getting confused.
Also, the only OBDI Vettes that have a removable knock module are the 94/95's.

:iagree:
because 94 was the first year of obdII style connector in the vette. also if im not mistaken 94 was the first year that they used an EEPROM all years prior to that was an EPROM
Actually much of OBD II was already introduced in the 94 model year.

if memory serves me correctly the only thing that was OBDII on the 94/95 models was the 16 pin connector while the actual ecu was still OBD I. if you try to use a generic OBDII scan tool on these year vettes it will read not able to link with ECU
