Default More HP?

Seems like the answer is always an automatic "Yes!". But I am struggleing with should or shouldn't I, and would apprecaite your thoughts.

If you check my sig below you can see I have decent HP and FT, and 3.73's. She is a street car, as she sits today she smokes the tires off the line w/o full pedal, breaks the tires loose hitting second and catches some rubber hitting 3rd. She is a respectalbe street car and represents the C4 family well.

I'm thinking of a cam, and then possilbey working the heads. I've always wanted a 400+ HP vette and these final mods will get me there. I don't want to change tires, t/c or go to a Dana 44 to deal with all that HP, but feel these changes would be needed to deal effectively with all that added HP and FT.

I could do a mid-range cam, loosing FT on the low end in exchnge for mid range HP, etc.

What do you think? I'd appreciate your perspective.

Many thanks! :seeya

Seems like the LT4HOTCAM is a proven choice for a dominately street driven machine. Good manners, wide torque band.

Would maximize cam benefit if you did a head job along with new cam.

Spinning tires make it easy on your dana 36, but if you are spinning that much you could benefit from stickier tires. More go, less show.

My thoughts.....

LT4 hotcam, and tougher springs than it comes with.

That and ported heads and exhaust, youll be around your 400hp goal.

Hi Joe, I've got you by 7 years and a lot more rwhp that I can use. With a supercharger you'll come in about 400rwhp. This is about right. In my experience any more on the street for me just isn't practical. It's no fun going sideways when your trying to pass someone on the street. But then again when I was in my 20's --------. Any rwhp in the high 300's is fun. Just my view.
