Default Rotors?????

I read all this information concerning drilled and slotted rotors. Some good some bad. What is the straight scoop?

have read some issues on the drill/slot rotors having stress cracks, but haven't heard anything on just the slot rotors...

From what I've heard/seen....

Baer systems are the best options because they give you a whole system, not just new rotors/pads...

The rest are marginally cooler/longer lasting/less dust.... marginally. But much less expensive than the Baer system.

Good luck, let us know what you pick!

The C5 guys like the Durastop rotors which are Delco drilled/slotted rotors. I found that GM also makes these rotors for the C4's. I will be putting them on the rear soon to match the C5 fronts that I will be putting on in the next week or two.

All the guys who do track days use the stock rotors and chunk them when they get cracks. Unless you are getting the 2 piece racing setup the drilled and sloted rotors will only crack up faster since the holes are drilled not cast in. If you upgrade to C5 brakes the stock rotors are under $30 each at NAPA from what I have read. C4 rotors are more for some reason.

:iagree: I treat rotors as expendable items. NAPA has 13" C4 front rotors for $58ea Good quality and even made in the USA. I have them on my GS :)

I just replaced all four with Raybestos Brutestop rotors. These rotors are crossdrilled & slotted. Prices where about 100 bucks each.
Installed with less then .002" lateral runout, rebuilt the calipers, installed new pad, and bedded them properly...
All is good so far, and VERY QUITE. I still need Earls brake lines, and rebuild the master cylinder.

Any place that carries Raybestos Pads should carrie or at least be able to order there rotors.
I bought mine loacally at Checker Auto (www.partsamerica.com). They had the rears instock, but the fronts took a couple of days.

I have just received my SP slotted and cross-drilled rotors for my '87. I have yet to install them but I will report when the job is done.
