Hi Folks
my 94 LT1 is in need of a new optispark...how can i find out where i can get the later modified one with the vacuum connection to stop damp problems?
cheers

I just did this job on my 94, but i decided to go with the redesigned unit from DynoTech Engineering. My rational was this is an involved job, and I only want to do it once. Phil at Dynotech has designed out the components that fail, and he makes a Generation 1 unit that goves us the benefits of the vacuum mods of 95 and 96 without having to change over to the new timing cover or modify the ports on the bottom of the Opti to accept the harness. The website is http://www.dynotech-eng.com/dynaspark.htm It isn't cheap, but it is better than the original design, and has an excellent warranty and support. I thought I had a problem with mine, and I notified Phil. He volunteered to send one out overnight, immediately, even before I began troubleshooting. It turned out my Ignition Control Module was the problem, not the Opti. You can't ask for better support than that.
do a search on 'STRICK' as he just did the exact same thing you are about to do. He has the info you might need, part #'s and maybe some tips. :seeya
Hi Steve. (ittlfly)
As far as the opti replacement I go along with the Dyno-spark. But if that doesn't seem right to you, then I suggest a system like the one offered from http://www.corvetteclinicinc.com look under C4 solutions for the vented opti. This is the route I chose as the Dyno spark wasn't completed yet. You can send him a new opti and he'll vent it or you can buy a complete unit that is vented. I, also put a bead of silicone around the cap/base seal and the plug in to help keep it from getting wet. While you're in there, replace the water pump and think about replacing the plug wires and plugs.
Or, do a different mod called the LTCC. I went that route on my 93. Works like a champ. Adds a bit of clutter to the engine bay, but I don't drive around with the hood open so it doesn't bother me so much. Cost is about $700-800 complete.

:iagree: :yesnod:
LTCC rocks. It is a bit complex to install, but the voltage reliabilty is excellent.
