She is going under the knife for her 383 operation tonight!
Hey guys, thanks for all your help on the Crate Engine/ Rebuild question! my 1990 L98 is going in for it's 383 rebuild tonight! I found a machine shop and a speed shop that work together locally and made a deal to have my L98 transformed into a 450 hp+ 383. They are keeping only my original block balancing and blue printing and boring it out to a 383. Everything else will be new including the intake. They will be going with the accel fuel injection system. And get this I am receiving a written warranty! all this for $7500.

4 weeks! This is thier slow season but I told them to take thier time. But I could not think of a better Christmas present! I just hope they don't call the police when they see me peeking through the fence with my arm stretched out! :cry

NICE!!!! hope this build goes well! I think that is a pretty good price it is going to be all forged or ?
I know i paid 5K with pulling my old motor rebuilding all forged and blanced adn installed and tuned. they did port owrk and roller rocker arms and such!

Good deal....just be real slow/careful on the tune.....I lost a 383 due to a lean condition because the fuel pump/lines couldn't handle the fuel volume under load:(

Once the engine is pulled the machine shop is going to call me in to go over every new part that they will be installing. I am a novice when it come to performance parts. That is why I have been watching the forum for the last couple months and taking notes! I will have my list whn the phone rings! :grouphug:

This is the first thing the machine shop warned of going wrong. That is why they are putting in a all new fuel delivery system. Regrets on your 383! I hope it was painless :flag Beleive me it has ran through my mine on more then one accastion. :U

No I don't think so. Other then the original block will be a all new fuel injected 383 including labor, torqe converter, shorty headers. Also the block will be balanced, blueprinted and bored out to a 383. If you can get all that for $5 grand with a warranty sign me up ! :yesnod:

I'm fairly sure you can get a 500+ hp LT1 long block from combination motorsports for under $7000, but you dont ahve an LT1 to core swap. Not sure if they do TPI stuff :confused:
