How do I tell if my diff is a 44 or a 36?

Maybe 3 cutouts on the 44 and 4 cutouts on each side on the 36 would be a little less confusing.
But I'm running 371HP and 450 ft.lbs. of torque to my 36 and no probs so I really don't think it matters one way or the other.
