Is there a way to decrease the braking effort required on my '86 Vette? It takes much more effort than my ZX (for example), and it is a problem for me because of a neurological condition I have (MS). I already tried different pads and steel lines. The pedal is plenty firm, but it still requires more braking effort than I can easily supply. With hand controls, the effort is still quite high (but I would soon develop Popeye forearms!). Is there a better booster that would fit - without major grief - that could provide me with more assist? Minor grief is OK!
Geogre, try the softest pads you can get, usually the ones rated for the least life are the softest. This won't affect the amount of power needed, but it will lessen the amount of time you need to be on the brakes because they'll grab harder. I'm not 100% sure how sensitive the Vette brake are to fluid level, but I know on my SS Impala and on my Monte Ss, if you add about an extra shot glass full of brak fluid, it has a huge effect on pedal power required.
Best of luck.

How hard would it be to exdend the brake levers to allow for more torque?
I don't think the booster is what you're going to want to change, a new master cylinder with more surface area over the cylinder would decrease braking effort(as with cars that didn't have boosters). Although I don't know how or where you'd find info on one that would work better than the Corvette's.
