I am going to be doing a C5 front brake upgrade on my 94 LT1. I will be using the Z06 red front calipers and retain the OE rear brake calipers. I would like to paint the rear calipers red so that they match the front. Has anyone done this? What kind of paint should I use? Should I use a clear coat? Or should I have the calipers powder coated?
I painted mine with a good primer and krylon. It hasn't come off yet and it's been three years of Dallas traffic. The main thing is to get them clean in the first place, then the primer will stick. I cleaned them with wire brushes first, then sprayed them down with brake part cleaner, then primered and painted.

I used VHT paint from AutoZone just because it is more resitant to chemicals than what Krylon is. Painted the calipers red and caliper brackets black. The VHT paint is darker than the ZO6 calipers but still looks very good. Also consider painting your rotor hubs, I painted mine a charcoal gray, looks good with ZR1 wheels and gives your brakes a nice finished look.
I used "Brake Kleen" to clean the calipers and then brushed on gloos black Rustoleum (not even high temp variety). I'ts been almost 2 years and they still look great so I don't think high temp paint is a must.
