I am going to change the brake fluid in my 94 LT1. What fluid is in the system from the factory? I guess it is DOT 3 or 4. Should I replace it with DOT 5?
From the factory I think it was Dot 4. Definitely don't use Dot 5, it bubbles when the ABS flutters, and bubbles are bad. Plus it requires a complete purge of the brake system using some sort of alcohol cleaner.
I recommend Valvoline Synpower for its high tolerance to heat.

:yesnod: :iagree:
It is supposed to be DOT 3. According to my Helms: "Use Delco Supreme 11 Brake Fluid (GM P/N 1052535) or an equivalent DOT-3 motor vehicle brake fluid. DOT-5 silicone fluid is not recommended for use in the vehicle's base brake system. DOT-5 brake fluid should never be used."
