Lately it seems my car has acquired a really annoying habit, at about 70mph and above, the whole car starts to shake annoyingly, so much that the radio can skip and the display is blurred... :mad Not to mention it makes every little rattle in my car 10 times worse than normal and makes it really difficult to stay on the freeway for any length of time...... :banghead: :banghead:
Re: Death rattle above 70mph....... (1990CORVETTE)
worped front rotors, wheels not balanced, wheel bearing, alignment........
Could be alot of things. Any idea where its coming from?
I just replaced the right rear wheel bearing, and all the others are ok. I dont think it is the rotors because it doesn't occur under braking. It seems to be coming from the rear....

Have you checked the u-joints at all???? :nonod:
I replaced all 4 halfshaft u joints not too long ago, but I have not checked or replaced the driveshaft ones yet. Any way to check them without removing??
I recommend a wheel balance and alignment. When an alignment is done any worn suspension parts will be discovered. If u-joints were worn so badly that it caused that kind of vibration they would have broken by now.

Re: Death rattle above 70mph....... (Wheelman)
Mine has a simular problem above 80. Had the tires balanced and then rebalanced and the vib stayed. Figured it must be halfshafts. Close inspection and shook em down, nothing. Checked the main shaft, and there is some play there. Not alot, but just enough to click. Its hard to believe that this little bit of play would cause that much shake!!
