use an on/off rocker switch or stay with the press and release switch?
The reason I ask is that the piece of junk that came with the kit broke almost immediately and that light, well it would look all right in a go cart maybe. Also, it really doesn't fit on the Hurst shifter so I was hoping to put it somewhere convenient yet not obtrusive. I was thinking about using a small illuminated rocker switch under the hatch next to the shifter. There's space near the front by the cig. lighter and it would be easily accessible.
Would this be all right to do this way? If not what are some other alternatives?

I went to the junkyard and got a horn that had the same plug in as my horns. I then took the plug-in off the horn and wired it the line lock. When racing I unplug both horns and plug in the power feed. Step on the brake and press on the horn. Other guys that use the horn method have wired in a switch so they can just flip it to send the juice to the switch or the horns.

I don't use the light either, I wouldn't use a rocker, you want to have it be failsafe so that when you let go for whatever reason, it releases.
You could use a toggle switch that is spring loaded to the off side. You will have to push the toggle on and when you let it go it springs off. I have several sitting around from when I was an aircraft mech.

That sounds like a good option. I'll be using two rockers, one as a safety cutoff located in the clove box and a spring loaded illuminated rocker under the flip up panel near the cig. lighter.
