Hey guys, I was talking to my co-worker, the electronics whiz, about how annoying my ASR is and he whipped me up a small little circuit that should turn it off on start up but still allow you to turn it back on when you push the button. Is anyone interested in the plans on how to make this?
I'll be taking mine home tonight to test it out on my '93 This should work on the pre-96's as far as I can tell, and may alsoon the 96's with a small modification.
I have no problem emailing the plans to anyone, but I would like to give a small kickback to my co-worker that spent his time, effort, and money on developing this little circuit. The email will be sent out with a "good will" hope that a small $5 check will be sent in return. I'm hoping to get enough to give him a gift certificate to the Outback or somthing.
Moderators if there is something above that is not in accordance to the pollicies of the Corvette Forum please inform me and I will be glad to change any of my statements above.
Re: ASR Bypass ........ Anyone Interested??? (mn_vette)
Id be interested in something that would make the ASR work more appropriately.
I like the idea of ASR, but heres what i have noticed on my 93.
1. It comes on at the slightest provocation (initial response is too sensitive)
2. It does not always react quick enough once it does come on (takes too long to make a correction when it is enabled....I could almost probably still spin the car out on wet, slick surfaces if I wanted to).
Re: ASR Bypass ........ Anyone Interested??? (JasonL)
All it contains is a 555 circuit with a few select valued resistors and capacitors, and a relay that you should be able to pick up at any radio shack for dirt cheap. All I'm offering is the parts list and how to soder them togther, and easy install instrctions.
Please email me if you are interested mckevett@us.ibm.com

Uh, can't you just turn the ASR off with the button that came with the car? Above the light dimmer?
you can, but that gets annoying after a while, it's nice to have it default to "OFF" instead of haveing to hit the button every time you turn on the car. Especially when you are at the track and try to do a burnout with it on. Now who's done that before I wonder...

So its basically the same thing except it stays off for as long as you want to? (ie - a whole day at the track rather than just when the car is running)
