First I'd like to WELCOME YOU TO OUR FORUM You'll like this place.
I'm getting ready to fix what sounds to be your problem. I ordered the Headlamp Repair Kit from Eckler's ($4.99 each light). There is a tech tip on how to do this operation and along with the Helm's Service Manual, which you should have in your possession, it should be somewhat easy to do. Do you know how to view the tech tips? Go to tools>tech tips>C4>look for headlamp repair or something like that.
The headlight motor is stopped by the force on the motor shaft moving the shaft which pushes on a pair of contacts. These contacts open and shut off current to the motor.
then could it be the contacts? Are ready replaced actuator relay also.or is the motor just on the way out!!! Thanks, I was wandering how the darn thing shut off didnt see any micro switches.
When you have it apart, check the output shaft.Put the bushing end in a vise and try to turn the shaft with vise grips.I rebuilt mine twice in 1 day before I found that the shaft was stripped out.It felt tight by hand, but under a load it would slip on the bushing end. This was after I spent $62 for the bronze gear.
Same symptoms as yours, It would open and close but the motor would keep running for a few seconds. :chevy
