Possible bent valve?
I have a broken exhaust valve spring and was about to replace it. I hooked up air to the #8 cylinder (to keep the valve up) but could still hear some air slightly coming out. I couldn't really pinpoint where it was coming from but is it normal to hear a little air (maybe escaping in the header) or should I hear no air at all? :confused:

Some air escape is normal. I recently changed valve seals and used a leakdown tester to apply air pressure. Even with the differential pressure at 80/70 psig , I could hear air escaping. If you are concerned that the valve is bent, hold on to the valve stem (spring and retainer removed) and release the air pressure. You can then rotate the valve stem and see if it is staight and if the head of the valve is bent , you can also detect it that way. Good Luck!! :cheers:

When running air in the cylinder, you can help determine where the air is going by listening in the exhaust pipe, the intake (TB) or the crankcase (oil filler) with a short section of garden hose. I have an old stethscope with round gizmo removed so the open hose can be pointed to help locate noises.
