I was reading through the archived threads on the straight pipes, the sounds etc. The sound on NotSLo's car is what I'm shooting for. I'm assuming his resonator's in place? Right now, I've got the Magna Flow muffs and no resinator (with stock exhaust manifolds) and was wondering if I was to go the muff elims, would I get the popping and loss of power off the line if I DON"T replace the resonator? Has anyone actually tried this? I still have the stock resomator and can put it back on, but was planning on having the elims bolted on so I can interchange them with the mufflers with a few turns of a ratchet. Otherwise, it's too damn quite with resonator and the mufflers. Any thoughts???
Thanks
Muffler Elims are awesome, and you shouldn't lose much of anything anywhere in the powerband, you'll probably even gain a tiny bit up top.
Bolting exhaust parts on sounds like a good plan until you actually try it...at something like $12 per gasket and the extreme heat on the bolts makes it more work than it's worth.
Re: The ol' Stright Pipes topic. One more qustion (OneRedLT4)
its not a lack of backpressure causing a loss of low end. its the design and tuning of an exhuast meant to work with a muffler which makes a big differance

Hmm, link didn't work. So what I'm understanding, is everyone's experience is not only positive, but WITH the resonator :skep: As for the back pressure issue, the muffler guy did say that in his opinion, the resonator should go back on. Looks like to avoid any problems, I'll have to weld it back up.
Cool.
Thanks
