Any recommendations if I should get a mechanical or electrical? I am considering Autometer Carbon Fiber gauges. The price difference is substantial $65 vs $210!!! Any pros and cons?
Re: Nitrous Gauge: Eletrical or Mechanical? (Raheel)
You can get one that just mounts on the bottle for under $50. Only problem I see with the mechanical ones is you have to run nitrous ling to the back of the gauge inside the car.
I have the Dynotune electrical FP gauge and they make an electrical nitrous gauge for $160. Check them out http://www.dynotune.org. Good luck.
Re: Nitrous Gauge: Eletrical or Mechanical? (VetteNoob)
I want to be able to see the pressure while driving so the bottle that mounts on the bottle will not work. Additionally, I have two other Autometer Carbon Fiber gauges (boost and the fuel pressure for the supercharge) mounted on the pod, so I wanted to keep the same look as it also resembles the rest of the interior/gauges (well sort of....)
I am planning to mount the bottle where the spare tires goes, so that leaves out the gauge on the bottle idea.
Running the nitrous line inside the car was my main concern as well and that's why I was reluctant but the price difference incentive was there.....
Are there any hazards to running the nitrous inside the car? :skep:
Re: Nitrous Gauge: Eletrical or Mechanical? (Raheel)
Here is something that might interest you. My friend has a mechanical fuel pressure gauge but to avoid running fuel into the cabin there is a device that switches it to water or air I'm not sure.
It is basically a diaphram that the fuel pushes on one side and that in turn pressureizes the other side and the gauge reads that pressure. I'm not sure what the psi limitations of that would be but if you do a search on the web for mechanical fuel pressure gauge you might find something. Hope this helps.
Re: Nitrous Gauge: Eletrical or Mechanical? (Raheel)
I have a line from the bottle that runs either on the left or right side of the drivers seat. When using N2O I can place the gauge beside the seat and moniter the gauge. I like it best on the left side.
