I have heard that an x-pipe reduces resonance. Did your overall volume increase?

Where did you purchase the X-pipe from? I've heard of forum members ordering the 3" X-pipes from B&B. But when I called them yesterday, the lady said (after consulting with someone) that they would not sell me an X-pipe, that they only sell complete exhaust systems. :banghead:

I believe Stainless Works Sells a X-pipe that is Direct fit to the B&B

B&B will sell you an x-pipe, just be prepared to spend around $400, the guy I spoke with was not very helpful either. I ended up using a Dr Gas x-pipe, which took about two weeks to receive. After the install a big portion of the resonance went away & the exhaust note/pitch was higher, the velocity of the exhaust gasses leaving the tail pipe is noticeably higher.

"the velocity of the exhaust gasses leaving the tail pipe is noticeably higher"

I read this and was just wondering....Given the same engine rpm and the same outlet pipes, would it matter what happens upsteam to affect the velocity of the exhaust gasses? I mean, isn' the engine pumping a certain fixed volume of air at a given rpm? I can see this happening if the outlet pipe is decreased....as in a jet nozzle. Am I all washed up? Also, I am assuming that an x pipe is taking the place of the resonator/s (two?) Please don't take offense I really don't know.....always want to learn.

It works just like a garden hose... as you neck a tube down to a smaller diameter, the volume passing thru the tube will speed up at the smaller diameter & slow down at a larger diameter.
In my case I have a 3" x-pipe & 3" pipe after the x-pipe, once the velocity increases at the x-pipe VS the resonator it maintains nearly the same velocity out the tail pipes relative to the resonator configuration.
I'm sure it loses some velocity after the x-pipe, but relative to the resonator the exhaust gasses are exiting the tail pipe at a noticeably faster rate. I would assume this to be the same reason the resonance/harmonics change to a higher note..
On the LT series engines you have (1) resonator w/ two pipes in / two pipes out. The x-pipe directly replaces the resonator in length & pipe center line spacing.
