Default Good Tuning Thread

I was poking around and stumbled onto this. There seems to be some pretty good info and most if not all of it would be applicable to Y bodies as well.

I learned a lot from it as well as the parent forum

The only problem with that place is they tell you what they want to and most all the times it doesn't paint the entire picture.

So read it with caution. There are many people there that *think* they know what they are doing, but when asked specific questions as to their own sucess with tuning, they fall VERY short of even stock standards on cars performance.

Funny thing is its the ones that talk the most and act like they know the most. Both Corkvette and I were banned from there for sharing information about our setups that contradicted the preachings of sum. At first they tried to discredit us, when that failed, they banned us. Sorta the old sang, can't beat them, ban them. Or is it join them :D :jester

Unfortunately there were people that took our information and ran with it. One guy started at mid o high 12s and recently went 11.2s So for those people they are the ones to loose out.
:seeya

That's a shame. There's so much out there and that people should expect that there will be differences of opinion as well as experience. I have in the past in other forums run across people who treat it as their own litle domain and are more interested in having the forum conform to their expectations as opposed to wanting as many different opinions as possible (which is the reason I like forums, gives me the best possible spread of opinions).

I tend to view most things with a jaundiced eye anyway, but thanks for the heads up just the same.

Unfortunately, since "no good deed goes unpunished" once I exhaust the FAQ you may "hear" from me from time to time regarding tuning questions... :)

(if that's allright?)

I agree, there is alot to learn over there, but they are quick to BAN and seem very difficult to deal with. If you carefully read it all you can sort out the truths.
The good thing about them is they are DOers, while most here seem to be BUYers. There is alot less "tinkering" going on in the corvetteforum crowd than the ThirdGen crowd. Thats what I like about them... So I just just read ita all and take it all for what its worth.
