I have been looking for a set of 220 afr's for my 383 but no luck. Everyone has said it would be the end of Jan before I can get them. But I found a set of 227's at one of there dealers in stock.Ted at afr said that I need to use a set of .150-.180 offset roller lifter and my standard rocker arm to clear the intake port. Do you guys that have used them have a better way of gettin the pushrod in the right position?Do you think this is way too much head for my set up? Has anyone used these before. I plan to buy one set that will also be going on my next engine also, 12.5-13to1 416 stroker. I am planning on spinning this motor and going to spray 200 on top. I understand i will lose a lot of bottom end but I know this will produce a lot of power up top. Well here is my set up 383 6in I beams with 7/16 bolts, lightened and knife edged internally balanced crank, wiesco light weight flattop pistons solid roller 244 252 .626 .601 112, 1.65 crower enduro rockers, 1 3/4 headers 3in all mandrel exhaust with X pipe, full ported and flow matched HVH brodix HV1000 intake and a raceprep AED carb. 86 Monte CarloSS weighs 3250 and has t-56 sixspeed. The car is used on cruise nights.drag racing and road racing. I have everything but heads, pushrods, and rollerlifters which I can get a set of crower offsets locally from a friend. I would like to here som input from you guys.
Thanks
I have a set and believe they are too much for a 383 unless it is a forced induction engine. Afr did not tell me about the pushrod problem when I bought them so I found out the hard way. You could probably get better results out of 210's on a 383 with nitrous. Not to mention the 210's dont require special valvetrain parts.

:iagree: 100%
I am no expert on nitrous but without a SC I think the heads are too big, plus you need the offset components and a big cam to complete the setup
I have Dart 227's on my 383 they are not to big if your motor turns over 7000 rpm. To make 600+ hp N/A motors you need the heads that flow over 300 cfm.
I'm planning on purchasing AFR 227's soon on a small block 427 project.
This months Hot Rod mag. has a 408 ci 630 hp motor using the AFR 227 cc heads. I just skimmed the article and didn't notice if they used offset rocker or not. I plan on using T&D offset shaft rockers that are made for the AFR heads.
87Z-ya are you saying that you have 227's for sale? I have a brand new set of flat milled to 64 cc AFR 210's with H-roller springs that i want to sell. I just didn't think that they were enough to feed a 427 ci SBC
They are 2.08/1.60 race ready flat milled to 64 cc Setup for .670 lift because i had plans for .590/.620 with 1.6's on a h-roller 242/248 @ .050 Comp cams custom cam. ARP 7/16th studs With options they are @ $2000. Never run still in the shipping box from AFR.
