Cat's throwing a code, Is it possible
I have replace the EGR vavle, EGR soleniod, all the vacuum lines and still I get 32.
A couple of month ago I gutted the cat, can this be giving me the code????? :banghead:
It sounds like the EGR Temp. switch on top of the EGR tube is defective or the wiring is open.
Either replace that switch or use the test method on my site (link in sig. below) to verify if it's defective.
Since the EGR Temp. switch connector is burried behind the intake base to the left of the dist, it may be easier to just cut the Grn wire near the current switch and splice in the new switch lead. If so, solder the splice and use heat-shrink tubing to weather proof the connection.
I thought the 90 had the negative back pressure EGR valve. Seems like some people have replaced the stock mufflers with higher flow rate mufflers resulting in less back pressure on the valve, control vacuum is vented, valve does not function properly. Almost certain lack of adequate exhaust back pressure will set a code for the 90's EGR valve.
Now, that said, NOT EVEN FAMILIAR with gutted cats and actual flow rate increases. Newer cats are not that restrictive. Not sure about the 90's.
If this problem occured right after gutting the cats, respectfully submit that MAYBE back pressure reduction could be the cause. Just speculation.
