Default Heater core help in a '90

Okay, my heater core finally blew tonight. Shamefully as a saleen beat me by a car length. Okay, so i knew the core was going do the fog machine effect that started a week or so ago whenever the heat was on. But tonight, i noticed a real strong coolant smell after my run, then as i pulled into my garage, a nice steady stream of coolant leaked out from the rear of the engine. I only have a few drops that sprayed into the car. So the question is, per this article copied here http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c4/scoob//c4heater01.jpg, it says that the '90's heater core could be removed from the engine compartment. Now the factory service manual says different. It has the dash apart marathon special listed. I will be crawling under the car in the a.m. to see what i can see.

I've never done that heater core, but there are always people finding ways to do things faster then the manual.

You can always bypass it until you are ready to fix it.....
