I recently got a set of new, never installed, front spoilers from EBay. Unfortunately it wasn't mentioned that they were covered with paint overspray.
Does any know of the best method to remove the paint without fading or in any other way affecting the plasitc? I tried using paint thinner, it works but it's incredibly slow.
Flame me now but thank me later,,,,, nail polish remover,,, trust me!
Ok but instead of being a Nancy using $0.50/oz nail polish. Acetone is the active "ingredient" in nail polish remover and costs a hell of a lot less and isn't full of perfumes!

Nancy here , nail polish remover cost less than $1.00 for a bottle of 8 ounces, you won likely use/need a whole bottle.
I agree with the acetone but I can get my wife to clean her nails with it! :lolg:
Be careful of acetone on plastic. It will melt certain formulations. I tried pouring some in a plastic bottle, melted right away.
What type of thinner are you using to try and remove the paint ? I removed overspray from some plastic inner fender splash shields I am helping a friend do a restoration of a 73 Buick Riviera Boat Tailed coupe. We are finishing a up a ground up resto on a show car.
I used lacquer thinner. Put it on and let it sit a bit and it cut down through. You might want to buy a throw away tin foil pan so you can submerge sections to let them soak.
Get some BLUE non-scratching scotchbrite. any other color will dull down the finish (abrade the plastic). IIRC Lowe's has blue. We use it for scrubbing the outside of our stainless pans. Let the lacquer thinner work and hit it with the scotchbrite.
Clay bars are for removing micro particles of contaminants in paint pores.
