Okay, I started last night trying to get the heater core out. I have removed vitually everything possible, and have removed all screws from the heater core case. The bottom is free, but i can't get the top half to come loose. I don't think i missed any screws. Is this thing supposed to come out through the bottom or out through the top? I'm about to put it all back together and take it to some shop! :mad
Re: I'm stuck on heater core removal... (edsalinas)
I got two off the top, one on the heater core box itself, then one just on the other side of the duct on the top left. So i am assuming the cover should completely come off? Do most of you pull it down once you get it off? I dont see any way for it to come straight up.
If I remember correctly, there are 2 on the top of the case. This is after you remove the duct in front of it. I got lucky on mine as one of the top ones was missing from the factory, which I found out later is common. It was tricky to get the cover off for a first-timer like me, but I wiggled and pulled enough where it finally came off. I pulled out from the firewall and down at the same time on mine. Getting it back on was fun too, make sure the pipes are bent the same as the one you removed. But be very carefule moving the pipes as you can break the solder joints.
