In my last posts I stated how I have destroyed rearend components the last 2 times I have gone to the track. The first time I chalked it up to worn out fatigued parts but this time everything was replaced except the half shaft and it still broke. It looks like this time either the brand new ujoint broke off 2 cups, or the halfshaft ears broke first and took out the drivers side storage compartment. Some people have voiced the opinion that my wheels that I have my et streets on place them out to far and are crating leverage against the driveline. These wheels only have about 4" of backspace and stick out past the car about 1.5". What bothers me the most is that there was another 6spd c4 running 10's on slicks that night snd no breakage for him. This time I even did a baby burnout just to get the water off and left at 2500 rpms and it still snapped. Its gotten to expensive to go to the track with this thing breaking parts everytime. If I knew for sure it was the wheel spacing I would buy some wheels with greater backspacing but I cant see how thats the problem.
I wish I had an answer, I have not been able to get a single short time. The 2 times ive gone to the track its broken on the first pass. They are solid joints. I also will add the car is only making 335 rwhp which I do not hink is enough to be doing this. My 520rwhp z28's little 7.5"rear held up better than the vettes.
Sounds like you have a lot of torque at the ground; maybe you need hardened components. I'm betting Strange can fix you up with parts that don't break upon launch.
I'm assuming rear alignment was true and bushings weren't worn out.
I put in cold treated outer spindle axles and thankfully they did not break this time. I guess if another shaft or joint fails Im going to go with the denny's shafts. I just dont get how I have seen a few other c4's go 10's on aluminum shafts.
