Gapless rings with Supercharger?
Sort of makes sense to seal the combustion chamber better to prevent blow by in a SC situation. Ring sets are available with both compression rings as gapless and also with the 2nd ring as gapless. Seems to me that if gapless rings work that using both compression gapless rings would be the way to go. Otherwise pressure could leak past the first ring and then build up between the 2nd and 1st ring.
Is there any wear or longevity issue with gapless rings?
Thanks in advance for any input. :)
Some claim the gapless rings pound out the ring landings. (Ring gap gets bigger.
For the $ difference and the few % compression diff,.... a good set of non-gapless rings will do fine. Properly gapped of coarse.
If you stay awake a night trying to figure out how to squeeze another 1/2HP out of the engine,..... use a piston w/ wide rings and go gapless.
