I have a 1995 coupe that I have had since new.I have never had any trouble with it at all,but recently I have heard this ticking sound in the engine especially when I pull in the garage it runs fine and has 40 thousand miles and has been serviced every 3 thousand miles.I am kind of worried has anyone experienced this problem hopefully I could fix this myself.thank you BOB R.
Welcome :seeya . Are you sure it isn't just the normal LT1 noisey injectors?? Where does the sound seem to be coming from? My injectors are somewhat noisey and have been for the 5 years and 60K miles I have added. I now have 148K on it.
Turn off all the lights at night in the garage and then start the car. Look at the engine while it is running and look for a blue haze or cross arcing plug wires to eliminate that as a cause.
I'll still guess it is the injectors. Some might be dirty having not seen much action with low mileage use. Allows additives to develope in the fuel system which may add to the issue. A good cleaning might help with this. A place called crusin' performace does injector cleaning and balancing at a real reasonable rate.
Other non stock injectors make the same sound.
Before I bough my 95, I was beginning to think that every Vette I looked at had sticky lifters, mine sounds the same in the garage, did since i got it at 12,800 miles and mow at 25,000.
